30 years ago, Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term “intersectionality” to describe the interplay of different forms of oppression. Since then, the US-American professor of law, activist and CIJ President has worked tirelessly to make visible the complex realities of marginalised communities, above all Black women. Crenshaw has already inspired, supported and empowered countless people in their struggle for justice. We have invited our President Kimberlé Crenshaw to Berlin. Together with this extraordinary activist, academic and feminist, we would like to celebrate the concept of intersectionality and all of the work our fellow activists in Germany have been and continue to do: including you all! The evening will be MC’d by Mayowa, the Archestra will accompany the event musically, four speed talks by Ed Greve and Afra Gyekye, amongst others, will start off the evening and then the curtain will rise for: Kimberlé Crenshaw! Hoe_mies will DJ the party afterwards.

This event is carried out in cooperation between the Gunda Werner Institut for Feminism and Gender Democracy of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Center for Intersectional Justice (CIJ).

Wheelchair accessibility is provided. Please let us know if you need a wheelchair space or a personal assistant. There are reserved places at the induction loop. If you need further assistance, please write to Hannah.Lichtenthaeler@boell.de.

In accordance with the requests we received, German Sign Language translation will be provided (Deutsche Gebärdensprache - DGS).
